Bankia prepares a change in its commission policy to deal with the deterioration of business caused by the negative rate policy in Europe.

The entity will communicate in the next few days to its clients that it hardens its commercial policy raising the requirements to benefit from its star product 'Because it is you', to which 4.2 million customers are linked .

From now on, the bank will require not only to meet a certain level of monthly income to avoid paying commissions, but the client must meet one of the three new conditions that the entity marks as alternatives to avoid cost.

These are: to carry out at least two operations with a credit card per month, to have contracted insurance with the entity with a minimum premium of 35 euros per year or to add at least 30,000 euros in savings in different products of the group.

The objective of the bank directed by José Ignacio Goirigolzarri seeks to increase the relationship with its clients to become its main bank. Its objective is that the 1.5 million users linked to the product 'For being you' who now fail to comply with the conditions raise their link.

In the case of not complying with the requirements, the entity will apply a monthly commission of six euros to customers for administration, maintenance and credit card expenses, among others. In this case, in addition, the cost of the debit card will amount to 14 euros.

The movement of the bank thus follows the movement of other groups such as Santander, which last week modified the conditions of its account 1,2,3, suppressing the remuneration and raising commissions for those clients that did not meet the conditions.

Official sources of the group explained that their objective is to face the new market conditions while maintaining their "strategy of not charging for services to related customers".
