• CSIF: Officials announce mobilizations to demand that the government make the wage increase effective in January

The Government links the salary increase of officials to cease to be in office and, therefore, that the Executive formed by PSOE and Podemos get ahead. The Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Function in function, Luis Planas, has defended today that "from the legal point of view, a Government in functions cannot carry out this increase," while it has advanced " which in any case will be accrued on January 1 "and" with retroactive effect ".

"We are in a period of government in functions," said Planas, fifth explained that in that situation the legal services argue that it is impossible to apply the 2% increase that was closed in the multi-year agreement. Therefore, only if there is a government "before the year", as Efe collects, will the increase be applied on January 1.

In this way, the Government ignores the request of the unions and, specifically, of CSIF, which precisely today has called for demonstrations to demand that the rise be applied already on the first day of 2020. In its requests, the Independent Trade Union Central and Officials asks the Government to " approve by way of the Royal Decree " and that "it is empowered to issue such a rule."

"Disrespect"

Given the condition set by the Government, sources from this same union point out that it is a "lack of respect" and affirm that there is no "political will" to apply the increase. "It is something that is signed", indicate in CSIF.

That signature came in 2018, after the former Minister of Finance and Public Function, Cristóbal Montoro, closed a salary increase agreement for the 2018-2020 period. According to this document, next year the salaries of civil servants and public workers should pick up a minimum of 2% that can rebound up to a maximum of 3.85% depending on growth, compliance with the deficit objective and the use of the so-called additional funds.

It is very unlikely that all assumptions are made to reach that increase, but it seems possible that 0.3% linked to additional funds and, perhaps, 0.55% depending on the deficit will be applied.
