Iran has described as " irresponsible " the evocation by the head of French diplomacy, Jean-Yves Le Drian, triggering a mechanism in the United Nations that will restore international sanctions against Iran if Tehran continues to develop its nuclear program and disengage from the 2015 agreement.

" Iran's disengagement from the nuclear deal is a reaction to the US unilateral and illegal withdrawal of the agreement and the return of US sanctions as well as the inability of European countries to fulfill their obligations " to save the agreement, said Abbas Mousavi, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

These statements are irresponsible and disproportionate and seriously undermine the effectiveness of political initiatives to fully implement the PGAC, in line with the system of lifting sanctions and articles of the Joint Commission, Mousavi said.

French Foreign Minister Jean Yves Le Drian told the Foreign Affairs Committee of the French National Assembly on Wednesday that France is seriously considering invoking this mechanism, which allows the return of UN sanctions against Iran.

Tehran has gradually resumed its uranium enrichment activities in recent months to put pressure on European countries to take concrete measures to compensate US sanctions as they promised in Tehran there are a few more 'a year.

But no concrete steps have been taken by the Europeans. In fact, Iran's oil exports have been reduced by five, which is hurting the Iranian economy.

France's threat comes as Iran has been troubled by rising gas prices and after protests against Iran in recent weeks in Iraq and Lebanon.

A meeting of the Joint Stakeholders' Committee of the 2015 agreement is scheduled for 6 December in Vienna.
