A service has been started that attaches sensors to the insole of shoes and collects walking data to give advice on how to walk healthier.

This was developed by NEC in partnership with a venture company engaged in health technology development.

A 11-gram sensor is attached to the insole of the shoe, and it collects detailed data such as the walking speed and stride, the height of the raised foot, and the angle when the heel touches the ground.

AI = artificial intelligence then analyzes this data and provides a training menu with videos, etc. through the app that will help you learn a healthier way of walking.

The service is scheduled to start around next spring, and the insole, sensor, and usage fee are about 20,000 yen per year.

The movement to create new services using IT in the health sector is called “Health Tech” and is attracting attention. According to the research company Fuji Economy, the domestic market size was 224.8 billion yen last year. In 2022, it is expected to exceed 300 billion yen.

Osamu Fujikawa, executive officer of NEC, said, “We will continue to provide optimal solutions for realizing the health of many people even though people's lives are affected in various ways, such as worsening attitudes due to increased desk work and smartphone use. I want to do it. "
