Faguo, Nature & Discovery, Jimmy Fairly, Bergamotte ... Hundreds of French brands have decided to boycott Black Friday. "For a simple reason: it is a day that encourages unreasonable overconsumption," says co-founder of the collective "Make Friday Green Again", Nicolas Rohr, on Europe 1.

INTERVIEW

The "Black Friday" takes place this Friday. And this day of sales at broken prices, concept imported from the United States, does not please everyone. More than 450 French brands have decided to boycott the event, including Faguo, Nature & Discovery, the eyewear brand Jimmy Fairly and the delivery company for bouquets of flowers and plants Bergamotte.

These brands came together in a collective called "Make Friday green again" (literally, "make the green Friday again"). Nicolas Rohr, director of the clothing brand Faguo and co-founder of this collective, was the guest of Europe 1 to explain this approach.

Heard on europe1:

It is a complete nonsense. We lie to the consumer for a day

"The brands of the collective do not do Black Friday for a simple reason: it is a day that encourages unreasonable overconsumption, with an environmental and social cost.We are in a period where there is no promotion, and we still organize a day to encourage the consumer to buy more than expected, at a price that is not the fair price, "explains Europe 1 Nicolas Rohr.

The brands of the collective "Make Friday green again" have decided to make this Friday a "normal" day, without broken prices. "With Faguo, we represent brands that sell all year round to the 'real' prices, and who organize promotions only at sales, at 'real time'." With this increase in promotions, brands pass on costs with staff. They can not pay any more, it's a complete nonsense, they're lying to the consumer for a day, and then the consumer is free to say, 'Why do not you practice these prices all year round?' these prices are not fair ", argues Nicolas Rohr.

We encourage consumers to be more reasonable, to take the time to look at their dressing room

Members of the collective have sent instructions to distributors, physical and digital (Amazon, for example), so they do not sell prices on their products, but without guarantees to be granted. The director of Faguo calls on all consumers to make today a day for the environment and the circular economy.

"We encourage consumers to be more reasonable, to take the time to look at their dressing room, to see what they already use and what they never use, to repair, sell or recycle, to create a circular economy and less tap into the resources of our planet 60% of consumers have clothes they never use ", laments Nicolas Rohr.

Each year, more than 60% of French consumers make purchases during this "Black Friday" that happens, remember, less than a month before Christmas. The members of the collective "Make Friday green again" hopes, by their initiative, "de-darken" a little mall aisles this year.
