SDF helicopter helicopter sprayed with wild boar CSF infection prevention November 26, 13:07

In order to prevent the spread of CSF, the so-called swine fever cholera, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has decided to conduct a demonstration experiment of spraying vaccines from the air to wild boars using helicopters of the Self-Defense Forces.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, vaccine application using SDF helicopters will take place at the Livestock Experiment Station in Gunma Prefecture on the 28th of this month.

In the demonstration experiment, the vaccine is mixed with food from the air, and the effective range of the vaccine is examined by checking the helicopter flying height and speed.

CSF virus has been spread by wild boars, and so far, foods mixed with vaccines have been spread in mountainous areas.

However, since it is difficult for people to enter steep slopes, it has become an issue how to spread vaccine over a wide area.

Mr. Eto, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said at the press conference on the 26th, “We will establish a vaccine spraying method suitable for the topography of Japan.” I showed the idea to consider.

Defense Minister Kono “Cooperation as Self-Defense Force”

Defense Minister Kono understands at the press conference after the cabinet meeting, “I will try to do it once and see what the situation will be and whether the wild boar will eat what is actually sprayed. I think that the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will judge whether it is effective, so I would like to consider it as a Self-Defense Force and cooperate closely.
