Emirates has announced the signing of a codeshare and Interline agreement with SpiceJet adding new destinations to and from India. This is the first ever common code agreement for the Indian carrier.
As of 2020, the agreement will allow passengers to India to benefit from more travel options to destinations served by Emirates and SpiceJet such as Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kochi and Delhi. Emirates passengers will also be able to continue their flights easily through the SpiceJet network to six new Indian cities: Amritsar, Jaipur, Pune, Mangalore, Madurai and Calicut.
With this shared code agreement, passengers from all over the world will be able to book a single ticket at premium rates to any of the nine destinations served by Emirates in India and continue flights to 172 local destinations within the SpiceJet network including Goa, Dehradun, Dharamshala, Jaisalmer and Jammu. .
As part of the first phase of the Interline agreement, passengers were able to book their tickets starting yesterday, with travel to begin on 15 December 2019.
