Attac, Friends of the Earth and Union Syndicale solidaires denounce the environmental and social impacts of the American giant, between CO2 emissions, tax optimization, and abuse of dominant position. For its part, Amazon denounces misleading information. But at a Christmas month, this report raises the question: would you be willing to do without the platform to do your shopping? For many, the choice is Cornelian.

"It's unfortunate but it's cheaper," Lola and Nina, two twin sisters, immediately put out. Their last order on the online platform dates from last week. "The Christmas presents that we bought on Amazon, we went to shop, we tested and we looked at whether it was good, but the day we wanted to buy, they were more willing or so was cheaper online than in a shop, there are no small savings, "the two young women smile.

"A political act"

Go through the traditional shops, it is indeed sometimes accept to pay a little more. "For me, it's a political act, to keep local businesses alive," explains Andrée-Anne, who has offered three historical books in a comic bookseller. "Someone who consumes at Amazon and who also complains of the rise in unemployment, I would like to see these people and say 'just be consistent'," abounds Raphael Dery, the manager of the bookstore.

To offer an alternative, the government should launch for the second year in a row "the Christmas of SMEs" to promote online French companies.
