The vehicle, designed to bring Elon Musk's group into the pickup segment in the United States, is showing impressive performance. And even if its design is not unanimous, the demonstrations have reacted a lot on the Web.

He had been talking about it for years as his ultimate dream. Elon Musk unveiled Thursday night at the Tesla Design Center in Hawthorne, California, the minimalist lines of his Cybertruck. Inspired by old sci-fi movies like Blade Runner or the James Bond universe, " it looks like nothing we know, " Elon Musk boasted, all smiles.

In fact, it has already reacted to the public on social networks where users have laughed gleefully at the external appearance of the whole, which leaves, it is true, a taste of unfinished.

Unrolling the show with demonstrations around the towing capacity of the vehicle (up to four tons), Elon Musk gave his person and also relied on his partner Franz von Holzhausen, head of the group's design.

The latter launched at close range a steel ball against the windows of the vehicle. And nothing happened as planned. These were depressed but without breaking completely however. Here again, Internet users have given themselves to their heart's content. If the glass did not come out unscathed, the ultra-resistant steel alloy of its body held the shock. It's the same one that dresses the rockets of Space X, the other group of Elon Musk.

Less than $ 50,000

Above all, the electric pickup of six adult seats, available in three models, displays outstanding performance. It can go from 0 to 100 km / h in three seconds and has a range of up to 800 km for the top model.

The price range is in line with the industry average of less than $ 50,000. This is the amount that American consumers are now willing to pay for this kind of vehicle, the most sold in the United States.

The market is currently divided between Ford, Fiat-Chrysler and General Motors. Tesla intends to invest this highly polluting market segment to impose electricity. But the three Detroit groups have already invested themselves in the electrification of the pickups.

This would mean that for the first time in its existence, Tesla is likely to embark on a segment already invested by others and that will surely be mature when the Cybertruck will land on the market - probably end of 2021. But this is a dream opportunity to finally make Tesla a sustainably profitable group. The pick-up market having very nice days in front of him.
