New corporate draft operation in the Spanish tourism sector and again with Globalia as one of the protagonists. The other is the Barceló Group . Both companies have closed an agreement to merge their travel agency businesses to 50% , sources close to the operation have confirmed to EL MUNDO .

The movement, advanced by El Confidencial , takes place just two weeks after the Hidalgo family, owner of Globalia, sold its airline, Air Europa, to the British conglomerate IAG, in turn owner of Iberia, British Airways or Vueling, among others .

The negotiations on this occasion have been led by Javier Hidalgo , CEO of Globalia, and Simón Pedro Barceló , representing the other part of the operation. However, the merger is still pending final signature and the corresponding approvals of the competition authorities.
