With the expansion of slots at Haneda Airport in March next year, Japan Airlines will launch 12 new flights to Chicago and Dallas in the United States, Shanghai and Dalian in China.

This was clarified at a press conference in Tokyo by President Yuji Akasaka of Japan Airlines.

According to this, 12 international flights per day will be newly launched on and after March 29, 2009 when Haneda Airport's slots will be expanded.

The most common is the United States, which operates six flights between the five cities of Chicago, Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, and Honolulu.

Other flights connect Shanghai, China and Dalian, Moscow, Russia, Sydney, Australia, Delhi, India, and Helsinki, Finland.

As a result, the number of Japan Airlines international flights to and from Haneda Airport will increase from the current 22 flights a day to 34, and the number will be close to the 40 flights scheduled to be operated at Narita Airport next year.

Japan Airlines President Akasaka says, “Haneda Airport wants to expand its business by utilizing the domestic network as a base for transporting overseas travelers to various parts of the country.”

At Haneda Airport, ANA plans to launch 14 new international flights per day starting next March 29, mainly on Europe and the US.

Haneda Airport has been used mainly for domestic flights for a long time since Narita Airport opened in 1978. However, internationalization is progressing further as more foreign tourists visit Japan.
