He said this in an interview with Gazeta.ru.

“If it suddenly turns out that yes, there is an objective need to issue a 50 ruble coin and this will be profitable, then, of course, such a decision will be made,” he said.

Demidenko noted that in this matter there are both arguments in favor of issuing such a coin, and against. In particular, according to him, this idea is supported by representatives of the vending industry, as this would help them with the change.

Along with this, the representative of the Central Bank added that in order to issue a new coin “it is necessary to be sure that it will last at least 20-30 years.” He also emphasized that at the moment this step is controversial, as non-cash payments are developing in the country.

Earlier, the 360 television channel reported that the Central Bank issued commemorative coins dedicated to the animated film "Santa Claus and Summer" and Rostekhnadzor, with a total circulation of more than 500 thousand copies.

In August, the Central Bank of Russia put into circulation coins dedicated to the cartoon "Bremen Town Musicians."
