According to INSEE, the movement of "yellow vests" did not leave deep traces in the shops. Small traders say they still feel some effects of the mobilization.

REPORTAGE

Problems cash or stores deserted on Saturday, the movement of "yellow vests" seem to have left traces on the small traders downtown. Yet, one year after the beginning of the revolt, INSEE ensures that the mobilization has not had a significant impact on trade.

"We are about 27 judicial liquidation," says Denis Favier, president of the trade association of Dijon. Never seen in the city of Côte-d'Or. Businesses put the key under the door one after the other and for him, it is the direct consequence of the movement of the "yellow vests": "It gave a fear to the consumer and this consumer does not come any more in center town of Dijon ".

If the movement resumes, some will not recover

Same thing in Bordeaux where traders record a 28% drop in their turnover. This is the average in city centers, in France.

To avoid the worst, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New Aquitaine, Patrick Seugin, created a task force . Eight people accompany 800 companies in difficulty on a full-time basis: "There are businesses that have cash flow problems, which are in infusion and we have created a support fund.We have compensated 220 companies for an amount of 1, 3 million euros.

A financial boost that adds to the possibility of spreading its payment of charges. This is what saved some businesses but federations of traders warn: if the movement resumes, some will not recover.
