TEPCO Electric power sales nationwide excluding Okinawa Customers robbed by new entrants 12:02 on November 12

TEPCO will start selling electric power for homes in Hokkaido, China and Shikoku from this month. Since many customers have been deprived of newly entering businesses under the influence of the liberalization of retail electricity, the sales area has been expanded nationwide except Okinawa.

According to officials, TEPCO will start selling new household power in this month in Hokkaido, Hokuriku, China and Shikoku.

Since it has already entered into Kansai, Chubu, Tohoku, etc., it will be the first major power company to expand its sales area nationwide except Okinawa.

Electricity charges are about 3% cheaper than the local power company.

Since the sale of electricity for households was liberalized three years ago, TEPCO has lost more than 20% of its sales share to so-called new electricity, a new operator that entered the local metropolitan area.

For this reason, by expanding the sales area nationwide, even if customers in the Tokyo metropolitan area move to rural areas, we will try to keep the contract as it is, and also want to lead to the acquisition of new customers.

Other major power companies are also starting to sell beyond the boundaries of the region, and competition, including new power, is likely to intensify.
