“On September 26, 2019, Nord Stream 2 AG announced the commencement of a special arbitration ... against the EU under the Energy Charter Treaty,” the document states.

According to the organization, the EU violated its obligations by adopting “discriminatory amendments” to the directive.

It is also reported that a lawsuit has been filed with the Court of Justice of the European Union on the partial cancellation of amendments due to the short deadlines for issuing exceptions for projects falling under them.

The company spoke about the possibility of such arbitration in July.

Nord Stream 2 AG believes that the innovations are directed directly against SP-2, and their task is to create obstacles to its implementation.

In particular, the directive implies a ban on a fuel producing company to simultaneously own a gas pipeline.
