“The presence of open disputes between Gazprom and Naftogaz, as well as the absence of a gas supply contract between us since 2020, are far-fetched problems for concluding a new gas transit contract,” Vitrenko wrote on his Facebook page.

According to him, the new contract is concluded not with Naftogaz, but with the separate operator of the gas transmission system, which is a consequence of the separation of the company and is in line with the proposal of the Russian side to "start relations on transit from scratch."

However, he noted that “starting with a blank sheet of paper does not mean that old sheets of paper are disappearing,” adding that old claims should be tried by the courts.

Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian Naftogaz plans to recover $ 3 billion from the Russian Gazprom by the end of 2020.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, commenting on Naftogaz’s lawsuit against Gazprom for $ 12 billion, noted the need to return “to the settlement on the basis of a“ zero ”version of all issues related to court disputes.”
