Spain reached 67.1 million international tourists until September, 1.3% more than in the same period of 2018, according to data from the Survey of Tourist Movements in Frontier (Frontur) prepared by the National Statistics Institute (INE ) published this Monday.

If the arrivals per month are observed, in September, which was when the crisis of the British tour operator Thomas Cook exploded, 8.9 million international tourists visited Spain, 0.2% less than in the same month of 2018. This is the third month of falls in the arrival of visitors.

Until September, the expenditure of international tourists in our country reached 73,830 million euros, 3% more compared to the same period of 2018, according to the Tourist Expenditure Survey (Egatur) also published today. The average expenditure per tourist in September was 1,089 euros, 1.9% more, while the average daily expenditure grew 2.8%, to 151 euros.

From January to September, the United Kingdom, which is our main issuing market, contributed 14.8 million tourists, 1.6% less than in the same period of 2018. France followed, with 9.1 million tourists and a decline 2.4%, and Germany, with 9 million visitors, 1% less.
