Steve Easterbrook, until Sunday CEO and president of McDonald's, has resigned from his post after transcending that he has maintained a relationship with a team member. The company has made public that Easterbrook violated one of the company's internal policy standards that prohibits senior officials from maintaining sentimental relationships with employees.

Easterbrook, CEO of the fast food firm since 2025, "demonstrated a bad judgment by engaging in a consensual relationship with a team member," the company said in a statement. Chris Kempczinski, president of McDonald's in the United States, will replace Easterbrook in both roles with immediate effect.
