Coca-Cola 350ml and 700ml PET bottles introduced October 31 15:58

“Nippon Coca-Cola” has a policy to switch 350ml and 700ml of cola bottles with 500ml at some supermarkets in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The reason is that the number of single-person and two-person households is increasing, and there are many people who drink alone and few people.

Coca-Cola Japan is planning to switch to 350 ml and 700 ml of supermarkets and drugstores in Tokyo, Chiba, Saitama, and Kanagawa from January 13 next year on PET bottles containing 500 ml of cola.

About the reason, the company says that in Japan, where the birthrate is declining and the population is aging, there are more singles and two-person households.

The suggested retail price by tax is 140 yen for 500 ml, 120 yen for 350 ml, and 195 yen for 700 ml.

Convenience stores and vending machines, on the other hand, will continue to sell 500ml bottles because many people drink them quickly and prefer large quantities without taking them home.

“We would like to cultivate new demand by introducing optimally sized PET bottles according to the changing times,” said Coca-Cola Chief Marketing Officer of Coca-Cola Japan.
