TEPCO to support Japan Atomic Power Generation

TEPCO has decided to support the cost of safety measures for Japan Atomic Energy, which has Tokai Daini Nuclear Power Station in Ibaraki Prefecture. The amount of support is expected to exceed 200 billion yen.

Japan Nuclear Power is a nuclear power company operating nuclear power plants in Ibaraki and Fukui prefectures.

Of these, the Tokai Daini Nuclear Power Plant in Tokai Village, Ibaraki Prefecture has been shut down and re-started since the Great East Japan Earthquake.

However, Japan's nuclear power generation has been faced with the problem of procuring the necessary funds because all nuclear power plants have stopped and there is no revenue from selling electricity. For this reason, TEPCO, the largest shareholder, has decided to support funds for safety measures.

TEPCO has not disclosed the amount of money to support, but according to the people concerned, it is over 200 billion yen. TEPCO explained that if the Tokai Daini nuclear power plant restarted, it would purchase the generated power and “determined it was economical”.
