After the failure of Benyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli president officially instructed Benny Gantz on Wednesday (October 23rd) to form a government. The leader of the blue-white centrist coalition has 28 days to try to form a coalition and an executive.

The photo is unusual. For the first time in eleven years, the man posing with the Israeli president after being instructed to form a government is not Benyamin Netanyahu. The image itself is a small victory for the centrist leader who poses as a credible alternative to the outgoing head of government.

But Benny Gantz is not yet Prime Minister and his task looks complicated. This Wednesday, receiving the mandate from the President, he reaffirmed his desire to form a " Liberal Union Government ". His speech was inclusive. "In our home, the State of Israel, there is room for all segments of Israeli society ," he said. And showing that he does not intend to waste time, he called in the evening leaders of all political parties represented in parliament to invite them to a meeting.

Negotiations between Bleu-blanc and the Likud of the outgoing head of government must resume Sunday. But yesterday, Benjamin Netanyahu brought together the leaders of the right-wing parties and made sure he still had their support. All have reiterated that Benjamin Netanyahu remains their candidate for the post of Prime Minister and they do not wish to meet Benny Gantz for the moment.
