• Service: Keys of the demonstration of pensioners in Madrid: When is it, what do they claim, travel, traffic cuts ...

Thousands of pensioners have come to the Congress of Deputies, in a demonstration with which they intend to require the new Government to leave the next elections to revalue the pensions with the real CPI by law and to raise the minimum pension to 1,080 euros.

Nearly 115 buses have arrived with pensioners from all over Spain, which join the columns of dozens of pensioners who yesterday culminated their march on foot from Rota (Cádiz) and Bilbao to make their claims visible.

The protest, led by a dozen pensioners in a wheelchair and on crutches, has started from the Puerta del Sol and in front of it there is a large banner that reads "Govern who governs public pensions defend themselves" .

The spokesman for the state coordinator for the public pension system, Tiano Sandoval, has explained to the media that upon arrival at Congress they will register a document of claims to defend "decent, fair and sufficient" public pensions.

In addition, he has advanced that they will not cease in their struggle for the repeal of the pension reform of 2011 and 2013, so they will be manifested in different autonomies on December 16.

"We do not accept the 0.9% increase in pensions. We only accept real CPI," said another spokeswoman for the coordinator, Conchita Rivera.

With banners that indicate "the banking system mandates and the Government attacks" or "we shield the pensions in the Constitution", several tides of pensioners also ask to end gender inequality in salaries and pensions, raise the corresponding pension due to widowhood and that the Early retirement with 40 years quoted is not penalized.

The march has taken place in a festive atmosphere and the pensioners chant "the fight is the only way, at any cost", while waving flags of Euskadi, Catalonia, Aragon, Asturias, Andalusia or Madrid, among others.

"We are here to comply, we are not going to faint and we are going to continue," some protesters shout, while others state angrily that they will continue fighting to repeal the sustainability factor approved by the PP and linked to life expectancy.

José Ángel Vivanco, national spokesman for the Coespe coordinator, stressed that "whoever governs will continue in the squares," and that this movement "struggles for the new generations, because we are on the street for our children and for our grandchildren. Not by us".

Pensioners also claim improvements in disability and widowhood pensions, as well as to eradicate the energy poverty experienced by the elderly.
