The Nobel Prize for Economics was awarded on Monday to Franco-American Esther Duflo and Americans Abhijit Banerjee and Michael Kremer for their work on reducing poverty in the world.

The work conducted by the laureates "has introduced a new approach to obtain reliable answers on the best way to reduce poverty in the world," said the Royal Academy of Sciences. They will share the price of 9 million crowns (about 830,000 euros).
