Iberdrola has announced Thursday that it has decided to open a "new and exhaustive" internal investigation to try to clarify the veracity of the information published on former Police Commissioner José Manuel Villarejo and if the company's code of ethics has been breached .

If, within the framework of the investigation, it is demonstrated that Iberdrola's control procedures have been avoided, the power company has underlined in a statement that "it will adopt all the necessary measures in accordance with the established procedures".

In this sense, and given the news published in different media this week, in which Iberdrola is related to the company Exclusive Business and Transactions Center (CENYT) -socialty linked to Villarejo-, the company has pointed out that the data unveiled were unknown to her.

Therefore, he added that he will carry out an "in-depth analysis" of them.

In addition, he recalled that since the publication of the first information in which Iberdrola was related to CENYT, the company has already carried out two internal investigations , one in November 2018 and another in July 2019.

According to Iberdrola, both determined that 17 services of the ordinary type and those of the Corporate Security Directorate had been contracted between 2004 and 2017.

In addition, they concluded that in the process of hiring and subsequent payment of said works, all of Iberdrola's internal controls and procedures had been correctly applied, as highlighted by the electricity company chaired by Ignacio Sánchez Galán.

According to El Confidencial and moncloa.com , the commissioner had allegedly received several orders from the power company to investigate political and neighborhood leaders, as well as former Endesa president Manuel Pizarro.

The services provided by the former commissioner, according to the information revealed, focused on the defense of an Iberdrola plant in Arcos de la Frontera (Cádiz).
