Du, a subsidiary of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), today unveiled three innovative solutions in the field of e-health based on artificial intelligence technology during the GITEX Technology Week 2019.

During the event, du, in collaboration with three of the best startups in the field of artificial intelligence, namely: Invermidica, Invervision and Enbisys, showcased a range of unique healthcare applications based on AI technology.

Du, in collaboration with INPISIS, announced an artificial intelligence imaging solution for diabetic retinopathy, which helps doctors and general practitioners make diagnoses and make quick decisions to refer diabetic patients in time to ophthalmologists.

She added that the new solution provides retinal images of both eyes, taken with an advanced camera to examine the fundus, and then loaded and processed in a secure cloud-based platform, after which the artificial intelligence system automatically analyzes the images, and send the result in less than one minute.

The solution then provides a report containing the results of diabetic retinopathy with a clear indication of image quality, along with measuring the severity of diabetic retinopathy and clear images of the entire retina.

In collaboration with InverVision, du also showcased an innovative AI-based solution to help radiologists make a diagnostic decision based on information about the possible presence of tuberculosis in potential patients.

By developing an advanced platform based on AI, a smart alternative to the traditional TB screening for new residents in the UAE, du is reducing waiting times, increasing efficiency and speeding up the process of obtaining residency in the UAE.

In addition, du showcased the new virtual AI-based assistant for basic symptom tracking, developed in partnership with EnvirMedica, where the new solution helps to eliminate unnecessary appointments by providing quick and immediate recommendations on best practices. Prioritize patient cases based on their risk, as well as establish a clear course of treatment.

“The digital revolution has contributed to the emergence of many technologies that can be utilized to improve all aspects of our lives and businesses, and we believe that the future holds more for us,” said Farid Faraidooni, Executive Vice President, Integrated Enterprise Solutions.

“In particular, AI technology has unlimited potential that can be harnessed and leveraged to improve our communities, enhance the quality and efficiency of operations across all sectors, and find solutions to the challenges that may arise in the future.”
