Jort Kelder makes a declaration of bitcoin scams, according to the research program Brandpunt + Wednesday. Kelder also announces the establishment of a foundation to tackle bitcoin crooks under civil law.
Brandpunt + has been researching companies that are behind bitcoin ads and in which photos of famous Dutch people often pop up. Kelder can also be seen on the fake news pages that the ads link to.
The research program announced the names of some companies in August. Together with the editor, Kelder called the Czech Converting Team. Undercover research by Brandpunt + showed that this company spread fake news advertisements over the presenter.
Kelder wants the police and the judicial authorities to go after the bitcoin crooks.
According to lawyer Joost Groenhuijsen, there is not just a risky investment in this case. "The point is that people try to favor themselves with lies and a false representation of things. There is therefore scam."
Kelder is planning to set up a foundation to which well-known Dutch people who are used in fake news advertisements can join. He hopes that John de Mol will also join them. De Mol sued Facebook in May because his photo was used in bitcoin advertisements.
