The French airline XL Airways suspends its flights as of Monday, September 30, 2019. It had been placed in receivership last week but had not been the subject of firm offers of recovery. The company has therefore preceded the decision of the Commercial Court of Bobigny two days.

In a statement, XL Airways, informed its passengers and customers that it was no longer in " able to ensure its flights from this day (30 September 2019) to 15 hours .

The insolvency administrator had received several marks of interest but no firm offer of resumption on Saturday, date on which the buyers had to make themselves known. A future meeting of the Commercial Court of Bobigny is scheduled Wednesday, October 2 to decide by court decision on a possible recovery or liquidation.

XL Airways specialized in long-haul low-cost routes and served mainly North America, including the United States, the Caribbean and Reunion but also China. But it had to face fierce competition from similar companies like Level, the subsidiary of International Airlines Group (born from the merger between British Airways and Iberia) or Norwegian. The arrival on the French market of this Norwegian company , but whose pilots are under English contract, was denounced by the unions of French aircrew. They accused him of playing on a load differential of about 30% between an English contract compared to a French contract.
