In a televised interview on US channel CBS, Prince Mohammed bin Salman said a war between Saudi Arabia and Iran would cause a " total collapse of the world economy ." He called on the international community to " deter " Tehran.

Asked by CBS's 60-minute program , Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said, " If the world does not act strongly, strongly, to dissuade Iran, we will witness an even more serious escalation. will threaten global interests , "explaining that" the supply of oil will be disrupted and prices will climb to unimaginable heights we have never seen in our lifetime . "

According to him, the consequences would be global: " The region accounts for about 30% of global energy supply, about 20% of global merchandise traffic, about 4% of the world's GDP. Imagine that these three things stop all . And this may mean " a total collapse of the global economy, not just Saudi Arabia or Middle Eastern countries, " further advanced "MBS". He said the September 14 attack on Saudi oil installations , which Ryad and Washington attributed to Iran, was absurd. " There is no strategic goal. Only one nut would attack 5% of the world's supply. The only strategic goal is to prove that they are stupid and that's what they did, "the prince said.

" I take my full responsibility "

The son of King Salman was interrogated by 60 minutes to find out if he had ordered the assassination of critical journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul in October 2018. "Absolutely not. It was a horrible crime. But I take my full responsibility as the leader of Saudi Arabia, especially since it is the work of individuals working for the Saudi government, "he said. "When is a crime committed against a Saudi national by officials working for the Saudi government, as a leader I must assume my responsibility. It was a mistake ".

Mohammed bin Salman has been questioned by an independent UN expert, who has found " credible evidence " of his involvement, while the CIA finds it likely that the Crown Prince ordered the assassination. On the other hand, the Saudi justice system has cleared the leader and detained more than 20 people in the investigation into the killing, five of whom face the death penalty.
