High tariff on Japanese valves WTO's decision to rectify Korea Adopted 1 October 6:46

WTO = World Trade Organization has officially adopted a final decision on the 30th that the Korean government demands correction for measures that place high tariffs on Japanese-made pneumatic valves.

However, in response to the request of the Japanese government to stop the measures at this meeting, the Korean government did not clarify how to correct it, and the problem could be prolonged.

The problem is that Japanese-made pneumatic valves used in semiconductor factories are being sold at an unreasonable price, and the Korean government has imposed a maximum of 23% tariff. This measure summarizes in the report the final decision for correction as violating the WTO agreement.

The report was formally adopted at the WTO meeting held on the 30th, and the de facto victory in Japan was confirmed.

At the meeting, the Japanese government will not be allowed to take customs measures if the Korean side claims that it has not been proved to be a breach of the agreement on most substantive issues, as long as it does not comply with any provisions. And asked to quit immediately.

In response to this, the Korean government expressed an idea of responding to the discussion for correction, but on the other hand, he said that the request from the Japanese side was not accepted and did not clarify how to correct it, such as whether to quit tariffs did.

For this reason, in the future, the focus will be on how the Korean side will respond, and if the Japanese and Korean governments face each other over corrective measures, the problem may be prolonged.
