The Aichi Prefectural Verification Committee has compiled an interim report on the issue of the Aichi Triennale, an international art festival held in Aichi Prefecture. The “Aichi Triennale”, which has been held since last month, has a special exhibition on the theme of “impairment of expression” that displays a girl image that symbolizes the comfort women issue. A series of telephone calls were taken and canceled three days after the opening.

Aichi Prefecture has set up a committee to verify a series of circumstances and compiled an interim report at the third meeting held on the 25th.

In the interim report, art director Daisuke Tsuda forsaw the confusion and forcing the exhibition to be the biggest cause of confusion and damage.

Regarding the cancellation of the exhibition, it was unavoidable to judge based on the imminent danger and not to be an unfair restriction of freedom of expression.
