The City Readiness Committee for Expo 2020 Dubai held a meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Committee, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of the Emirates Group, to discuss the latest developments in the preparations undertaken by various authorities, in preparation for hosting the event after About 13 months. According to a statement issued yesterday, the committee listened to a detailed presentation of the various stakeholders' plans regarding Dubai's preparations for the international event. The meeting agenda included the latest developments related to some RTA projects related to Expo 2020 Dubai, as well as civil defense preparations in Dubai. And operational readiness of its services during the international event.

The meeting also discussed the preparations of the Dubai Health Authority and the readiness of its services during the exhibition stage, in addition to the preparations of the Dubai Ambulance Services and the readiness of its operational services and emergency response plans during the international event.

Advanced phase

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said: “We have heard detailed explanations from various sides about what Dubai has in store for the world in October 2020, to make Expo a holiday for Dubai for six months, starting from October next year.” He added that «the plans are in an advanced stage of implementation at various levels, which we saw with our eyes directly at the site (Expo) before we listen to the detailed explanation».

Colonel Khabir Ali Al Mutawa, Assistant Director General of Dubai Civil Defense for Fire and Rescue Affairs, said: “The Expo 2020 Civil Defense Center established by Expo 2020 Project Management is one of the most modern civil defense centers in terms of design and potential. "Technology, equipment, mechanisms, and operational capabilities that respond to various emergencies."

He added that «the Center is working to take advantage of the best techniques of artificial intelligence to ensure the protection and safety of all visitors, participants and workers in the international event, and the buildings and facilities of the exhibition, which are all connected electronically to the Civil Defense Operations Room at the Center, to achieve the shortest response time, and ensure the best applications for prevention and safety in Expo 2020 Dubai is a model for safety and is a leading role model in all sectors and services. ”

Al Mutawa pointed out that «these measures are aimed at securing all sites and events for (Expo), a huge global economic and cultural event hosted by the UAE, before the start of (Expo) and during its stay and after the end of its activities, to strengthen the status of the State and the Emirate of Dubai globally» .

Future plans

A representative of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Dr. Yunus Kazim, Executive Director of Dubai Healthcare Authority, gave a presentation during the meeting, during which he reviewed the efforts to increase the readiness and preparations in all facilities of the Health Authority, which aims to play an active role in the success of «Expo 2020 Dubai ».

Kazem reviewed the services provided by the Health Authority since the beginning of the preparatory period for Expo 2020, in addition to presenting future plans, the volume of partnership and cooperation with government partners and the private health sector, in order to maintain a healthy and safe environment.

The latest standards

In turn, the Dubai Ambulance Services Corporation, represented by Executive Director Khalifa Bin Dray, accompanied by Acting Director of Ambulance Operations, Meshal Julfar, reviewed the preparedness plan for the reception of Expo 2020, and the mechanism of joint work with government and private entities to enhance the Foundation's keenness to cover International event according to the latest international standards in emergency medicine services.

Bin Dari said that the Foundation has signed 30 agreements with more than 30 private hospitals, aiming to cooperate in the transfer of cases and injuries according to the areas of competence closest to the hospital if the need arises, and also signed an agreement with the Abu Dhabi Police and National Ambulance, aimed at enhancing readiness, readiness and coordination of « Expo 2020 Dubai.
