In Israel, at the beginning of consultations between the Israeli president and the political parties, Arab parties plead for Benny Gantz's candidacy for the post of prime minister. This is the second day of consultations that opens for the Israeli presidency on Monday, September 23.

This is the second day of consultations opening for the Israeli presidency. On the program, three parties belonging to the block of the religious right should - without much surprise - nominate Benyamin Netanyahu. And on the other hand, there will be Labor and the Democratic Union who will recommend his rival: Benny Gantz.

Wait for the failure of the other ...

The new element this morning is that the two candidates, oddly enough, seem to prefer not to be the first to be appointed to try to set up a new coalition. They think both, it seems, have more chance to carry out this task in a second time after the failure of their opponent.

Another point to highlight this morning is that one of the components of the United Arab list Balad, the National Democratic Alliance, backtracked and said in a letter to the Israeli president that his three deputies do not support the candidacy of Gantz.

A stable government

The task is therefore particularly difficult for President Reuven Rivlin who has already announced that his goal was a stable government comprising at least the two major parties, the Likud and Bleu-blanc.
