The National Mortgage Guarantee limit will be raised to 310,000 euros from 1 January, Waarborgfonds Eigen Woningen. This is the first time that the NHG has exceeded 300,000 euros.
Now the limit is still 290,000 euros. For homes with energy-saving facilities, the cost limit is 6 percent higher (328,600 euros).
The NHG has been created to provide a safety net in economically unfavorable times in case people can no longer pay their mortgage payments. The reason for increasing the maximum amount is that house prices are on the rise.
Since 2017, the cost limit for NHG mortgages has been linked to the average purchase price of homes purchased in the months of June, July and August of the previous year.
