Payment start-up Stripe is valued at $ 35 billion (€ 31.6 billion) and has thus entered the list of highest-rated start-ups in the United States, writes The Wall Street Journal on Thursday. The valuation follows a new financing round for the company.

Stripe was looking for investors for an investment of $ 250 million and managed to attract several venture capital companies, including Sequoia Capital and General Catalyst.

The technology that Stripe offers can be used by internet companies to receive and send payments. The start-up was founded in 2010 by the brothers John and Patrick Collison.

The company is now worth more than, for example, Airbnb, which is also one of Stripe's customers.
