Online retail giant Bol.com is the largest online retailer in the Netherlands with a turnover of 1.64 billion euros, reports e-commerce magazine Twinkle on Thursday in the list of the country's largest web shops in 2018, called the Twinkle 100. The top three is completed by web store Coolblue and supermarket chain Albert Heijn.
Coolblue is the only other company to break the billion line, with a turnover of exactly 1 billion euros. Albert Heijn has the third largest turnover with a total turnover of 565 million euros. Last year that place was still occupied by clothing web store Zalando.
The German clothing store has now dropped to fourth place. Another online clothing store, Wehkamp, completes the top five. Zalando had a turnover of 550 million euros in 2018, while Wehkamp achieved a turnover of 530 million euros.
The American retail giant Amazon is in sixth place on the list, with total sales of 350 million euros in the Netherlands. A big leap compared to a year earlier; Amazon achieved a turnover of 230 million euros in 2017.
Supermarket chain Jumbo is this year for the first time in the top ten, with a turnover of 265 million. Online supermarket Picnic just falls out of this and ends in eleventh place.
