The Spanish businessmen grouped in CEOE ask the political parties more sensitivity towards the economy and break the paralysis. The business organization, which today held a board of directors, has approved a report in which it notes that in the second quarter of 2019, GDP has registered a growth of 0.5%, two tenths less than the previous quarter. "This lower progress has been due mainly to the slowdown in its investment component, which may be being hampered by the increase in uncertainty at the national and global levels."

The statement underscores the weight of the political situation in recent months by recalling that following the lack of agreement between the parties to form a government by expressing the concern of businessmen for the "lack of stability necessary for the work of the Spanish business fabric." The reasons for concern to remain competitive are "political paralysis" and international risks such as the price of oil, the trade war between China and the US and Brexit

In addition, the CEOE today concluded the renewal process that began with the succession of Juan Rosell by Antonio Garamendi in the position of president. The business organization has held a board of directors to elect six new vice-presidents who complete the dome, which consists of four territorial, four sectoral and three transversal vice-presidencies.

The new vice presidents of CEOE are Lorenzo Amor , president of the National Federation of Autonomous Workers' Organizations (ATA); Íñigo Fernández de Mesa , president of the Institute of Economic Studies (IEE); Javier González de Lara , president of the Andalusian Confederation of Studies (CEA); Inés Juste , president of the Juste Group; Julián Núñez , president of the Association of Construction and Concession Companies of Infrastructure (SEOPAN) and Marina Serrano , president of the Association of Electric Power Companies (AELEC). In addition, Juan Pablo Lázaro, former president of the Business Confederation of Madrid and a man of weight during the Rosell stage, has been replaced by his successor in the Madrid confederation, MIguel Garrido .

Garamendi came to the presidency of CEOE last November with, among other objectives to renew the activity and the role of the business organization. The process was parallel to that of dialogue between the Government and unions in order to agree on changes in the labor reform and Garamendi suggested that the transition process was being used to revoke the legal framework without the approval of the businessmen. Finally, the Government gave up making changes and the unions accused the CEOE of having "right to veto."

Among the most relevant changes made so far, the expansion of the number of vice-presidencies since the previous five and the incorporation into the business organization of the autonomous workers ATA, chaired by Lorenzo Amor, now also vice president of CEOE.
