Unilever has sold Chicken Tonight to food company Zwanenberg. The latter has been producing the sauces for Unilever since 2017, but is now also taking over the marketing and sales of the product group.
Unilever calls the sale an "appropriate and logical step" because Zwanenberg wants to expand the portfolio of brands. Until now, meat preserves from Zwan and liver sausage and vegetarian sausage from Kips were well-known products from the group.
"We have been working since 2015 as a broad food company with strong brands", says Zwanenberg CEO Maarten Elsinga.
Zwanenberg Food Group, as the group is called in full, achieved a turnover of around 400 million euros in 2018. The company has sixteen hundred employees and has production locations in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States.
