LONDON (Reuters) - International regulators will ask Facebook about its crypto currency Libra, amid growing concern among European Union countries about the threat the digital currency could pose to financial stability, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.

Officials from 26 central banks, including the Federal Reserve and the Bank of England, will meet currency representatives in Basel on Monday, the newspaper said.

Libra's founders were invited to answer important questions about the currency's scope and design, the newspaper said, citing officials.

Facebook has yet to respond to a request from Reuters to comment outside normal business hours.

Countries including France and Germany have publicly criticized the Libra project, saying it poses a threat to EU sovereignty.
