FamilyMart Expands the short-run experimental store September 12, 19:50

With the convenience of 24-hour convenience stores becoming a problem, FamilyMart has been conducting a full-time experiment starting next month, and it has greatly expanded the number of stores that are closed every day at night, affecting the sales and customer base. I will investigate.

FamilyMart has already experimented with short-term sales at more than 20 member stores, but from the middle of next month, it has decided to add 640 stores and start full-scale experiments.

In the experiments so far, most of the stores were closed only from late night on Sunday when the customers were dull until the early morning of the following day, but in the experiment from next month, 324 stores were newly opened every day, from late night to early morning. Business is suspended.

FamilyMart will consider the way of short-term sales by comparing the impact on sales and customer base in experiments conducted until December.

Toshio Kato, vice president of FamilyMart, said at the press conference, “I think it ’s a serious experiment in measuring the impact of short-term sales. In principle, I ’d like to consider the 24-hour sales system, including a review.” .

Concerning convenience store short-term sales, Lawson has already recognized over 70 stores, and Seven-Eleven is conducting experiments at approximately 200 stores.
