Nissan president Hiroto Saikawa, who admitted to receiving more than he was entitled to in the past, resigns. The successor of Carlos Ghosn at the head of the Japanese manufacturer was already suspended before this case broke out. He was considered too close to the former head of the Renault-Nissan alliance arrested for financial malfeasance in November 2018. The poor results of Nissan had also weakened. The builder will appoint a new president by the end of October.

Nissan's board is looking for a new boss. He may be Japanese or foreign. It could be a man or a woman. The new boss will have to have a thorough knowledge of the Renault-Nissan alliance. This is an absolute requirement for Nissan.

The Japanese manufacturer clearly indicates that it intends to preserve its alliance with Renault. To ensure the interim, Nissan chooses its manager, Yasuhiro Yamauchi who knows the alliance well and would be appreciated by Renault. The appointments committee also includes Jean-Dominique Senard, Renault's boss.

The departure of Hirota Saikawa marks a new upheaval at the helm of Nissan. It will reimburse the 40,000 euros of undue income corresponding to a capital gain related to the rise in the company's shares. But Hiroto Saikowa especially wants to take responsibility for the business that led to the arrest of Carlos Ghosn he was very close.

In recent months, Hiroto Saikawa defended Nissan's identity . He had opposed a possible merger with Renault. Nissan still does not want a merger with its French partner.

The resignation of Hiroto Saikawa will be effective September 16th.
