The expert expressed the opinion that the statement contains the truth obvious to Europeans, so the criticism of Nord Stream 2 is politicized.
“They no longer hide the fact that Nord Stream 2 is to be stopped for purely political reasons. Previously, two mutually exclusive arguments were given. They said that Nord Stream-2 would lead Europeans to increase their dependence on Russian gas, and, secondly, that in this way Russia wants to deprive Ukraine of transit money and thereby economically kill it, ”the expert said.
He called these arguments untenable, noting that the same gas as before, but on a different route, would go along Nord Stream 2.
“Americans have recently said that you need to buy American liquefied natural gas, not Russian gas, because there are some kind of“ freedom molecule ”in the American one. This is indicative from the point of view that they want to stop Nord Stream 2 for far-fetched political reasons, ”said Yushkov.
Schäuble previously called the actions of the Nord Stream 2 critics unreasonable, noting that they could harm Europe.
