That Andalusians drink Cruzcampo and Madrid's Mahou is a regional feature well known among beer enthusiasts. So it is that nine out of 10 Spaniards buy often or have ever done so in Mercadona. What few people know is that in the south Puleva, Larsa milk is drunk in Galicia and the rest of the country is practically the Central Lechera Asturiana which leads the refrigerators.

Spain is the way it is because it consumes what it consumes and this differs depending on each autonomous community. Datacentric, a company specialized in data analysis, has developed a study in which it describes, region by region, our identity based on the brands we consume.

Analyze the consumption of various products and services: beer, milk, telephone companies, supermarkets, clothing chains, car model or cosmetic product.

Mercadona green dominates it

In this way, the most present consumption groups in each community are identified. Moving from the obvious to the particular, the Mercadona green colors almost the entire national map (in visits), although it is the Dia chain that has the most presence.

It accounts for 26% of the expenses that Spaniards made in consumer products (food, beverages, drugstore ...) and nine out of 10 Spaniards buy in the Valencian chain, according to data from Kantar Worldpanel).

Day is, however, the most present chain, with the exception of Galicia (where there are more stores in Gadis, the regional chain), Covirán in the south, Alimerca in Asturias and Eroski in the Basque Country.

Apple, the most desired

The same goes for Apple, which reigns in all communities: it is the most desired brand despite the fact that, when buying a mobile, Huawei and Xiaomi were the best selling brands.

The telecos divide the territory: while the north zone continues to be from Telefónica, Vodafone leads in Andalusia and the Valencian Community and Yoigo in La Mancha.

Galician beer spreads

The national map of the beer reveals a curious phenomenon, and it is the growth that Estrella Galicia has experienced in recent years.

Before it was much more local but now it is the favorite in Castilla-León, Extremadura, Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands, although it is still fourth in sales. Cruzcampo does not move from Andalusia and Mahou is still the favorite in Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha.

Also within the field of beverages, the leading brand of milk in the national territory is Central Lechera Asturiana. It is the favorite in all regions, except in Galicia, Andalusia (Puleva) and the Basque Country, where Kaiku leads.

The brands of the purchase

The two multinationals L'Óreal and P&G share capital hygiene. The most favorite brands of Spaniards are Pantene (from P&G) and Garnier (from the French multinational). The third in discord is H&S, also from Procter, which leads in Navarra.

As for the shopping cart, the most chosen brands in most communities are Coca-Cola drinks and El Pozo meat.

The closet, by Zara and Levi's

As for dressing preferences, Datacentric's analysis reveals that Levi's is, together with Zara, the brand most chosen by the Spaniards.

It is even ahead of the pretty Inditex girl in the two castles, in Madrid and Andalusia. Zara likes more in Galicia, Navarra and Asturias.

The Datacentric report also includes favorite car brands by communities (the map is distributed by Renault, Jeep, Peugeot, Seat or Ford), gas stations with more service stations (with Repsol almost as absolute leader), television networks (Telecinco sweeps the rest) and banks (for offices).

In this last case, the panorama is quite distributed, with Grupo Santander as leader in Galicia and Castilla y León, Globalcaja in La Mancha, Caixbank in Andalusia and Catalonia, Kutxa in the Basque Country
