Spain received 9.9 million international visitors in July, 1.3% less than a year earlier, due to the fall of two of the main countries issuing travelers to the country: United Kingdom and Germany, according to data published Monday by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

In the first seven months of the year, the number of tourists arriving in Spain increased 1.9% and touched 48.1 million. Its expenditure reached 52,360 million euros, 3.3% more.

The main emitting countries in the first seven months of the year were the United Kingdom, with about 10.5 million tourists and a decrease of 1.6% over the same period last year; followed by Germany (with almost 6.6 million and an increase of 2.2%) and France (with more than 6.1 million tourists, 1.2% less).

In terms of spending, the United Kingdom was the country with the highest accumulated expenditure, with 19.5% of the total. It was followed by Germany, with 12.8%; and the group of Nordic countries - Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden -, which accounted for another 7.7%.
