• Airlines. Ryanair starts an ERE for 500 employees while negotiating the closure of four bases in Spain

Ryanair has inaugurated the September strike that is expected in the transport sector in Spain. Passenger cabin crew (TCP) have started today the first of the ten days of stoppages announced for this month in protest at the closure of four of the company's bases in the country - Las Palmas, Tenerife South, Lanzarote and Girona - and the 500 dismissals that could be estimated.

The company has canceled six flights of those planned for the whole day and the unions have expressed their unease over the behavior of the airline. According to the spokeswoman for Unión Sindical Obrera (USO) Ryanair, Lidia Arasanz, Ryanair "has violated the right to strike" of employees by using crews from foreign bases to cover flights affected by the protest.

Arasanz has claimed to have "evidence that the company has called crews from other bases in Europe to operate flights from there," which for the airline would mean a delay rather than a cancellation. On the other hand, the union spokeswoman has also denounced that all employees received an email from the company where they were asked if they seconded the call: "This violates the right to strike. The unions cannot coerce the workers and we comply, but the company violates our right, "he explained at the Barcelona Airport.

The unions have also criticized the minimum services imposed by the Ministry of Development for these days of protest. These services include 100% of domestic flights to or from non-peninsular territories and 60%, rounded up in excess, of services for each route with Spanish peninsular and foreign cities, whose alternative means of public transport means a journey with a time of travel equal to or greater than five hours. In addition, the Ministry has decreed a minimum service of 35% for peninsular flights with travel time of less than five hours. From USO, they consider that these minimum services are "totally abusive" .

Tomorrow Monday will be held the second day of protests and these will be repeated the next 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 and 29 September.

However, the main incidents this Sunday at airports have originated in France . Dozens of flights in Spain and in the rest of Europe have been affected by delays due to a problem in the French air control system, which has mainly affected those routes to the Gallic country or flying over its territory.

The unemployment in Ryanair and the problems in France have also coincided with the indefinite strike that the Trablisa employees, the winner of the security service at Barcelona airport, have maintained since August 9, and with the last day of partial stoppages in Renfe .

In this case, it is the fourth and last day of partial protests called by CGT in the company. The day, according to the union, has registered a follow-up of 70% of the stoppages and is happening with "tranquility". Employees demand, among other measures, an increase in replacement rates in Renfe's workforce and the brake on outsourcing services.
