Japan-India cooperation to introduce electronic services using biometric authentication in Africa August 27, 14:15

Japan and India will work together to support the digitization of African countries. In India, electronic service infrastructure systems are prevalent based on biometric technology developed by Japanese companies, and we aim to introduce this system to African countries.

In India, which is digitizing nationwide, nearly 1.3 billion people, almost every citizen, use electronic services that can receive subsidies and open bank accounts online.

The infrastructure system for this service uses biometrics technology developed by NEC in Japan, which identifies individuals by combining fingerprints, faces, and eyes to prevent unauthorized access such as impersonation.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, in collaboration with the Indian government, intends to introduce this infrastructure system to African countries, and Japanese and Indian government officials will visit African countries within the fiscal year to start full-scale research.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry wants to spread Japanese technology, which has a proven track record in the highly public fields of IT powerhouses and India, to African countries. Among them, I believe it is easy to accept because of the trust in Japanese technology.

The policy to support the digitization of society in Africa is expected to be confirmed at the TICAD = African Development Conference starting in Yokohama on the 28th.
