In Hong Kong, the Cathay Pacific unions are angry. Beijing's pressure is growing stronger on the airline. The unions denounce a campaign of pressure against the staff they describe as "white terror".

It is the dismissal of Rebecca Sy, union representative of the aircrew, for a discussion on Facebook about the political crisis in Hong Kong which set fire to the powders. A dismissal following the resignation last week of the Director General Rupert Hogg.

Considered a true hero, this great boss preferred to leave his post than reveal the names of his employees, who participated in the anti-government demonstrations.

Methods of intimidation

These starts reflect the growing Chinese pressure on Cathay Pacific. Many pilots and crew members evoke, even, a climate of fear, within the airline. With methods of intimidation against them, such as monitoring their phones.

Held 30% by Air China, Cathay Pacific with 27,000 employees, is one of Hong Kong's most iconic companies. In attacking it, Beijing sends a warning to all other companies and their employees.
