According to data issued by the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Sector in the Dubai Economy, the number of complaints filed by tourists visiting Dubai reached 2312 complaints during the first half of this year, pointing out that the list of the top five nationalities of tourists who submitted complaints to the Consumer Protection Department during that period They included Saudis, Indians, Kuwaitis, Egyptians and Omanis.

Ahmed Al Zaabi, Director of Consumer Protection at the Dubai Economic Department, told Emirates Today that tourist complaints mainly focused on car rental offices, as 38% of tourists' complaints during the first half were against car rental companies. The services are about 12% of complaints, and the car sales sector is about 11%, which is the same rate for the e-commerce sector.

He pointed out that complaints against car rental offices are the most common among tourists, especially in the case of some offices are not committed to the process of refunding the guarantee or delay in the payment of financial dues, calling on car rental offices to follow the best practices that ensure increased consumer satisfaction of residents and visitors, From the competitiveness of Dubai's car rental sector, increasing transparency in local markets, developing the trader's culture and awareness of consumer rights, Dubai is established as the ideal business environment and the best shopping destination in the world.

Al Zaabi said that Dubai's economy is receiving a high percentage of complaints through smart channels available to protect consumers, within the framework of strategic efforts to enhance competitiveness in Dubai, explaining that consumer complaints are an indicator of the level of awareness that is growing in the Dubai market, especially among tourists, and to the success Consumer awareness campaigns organized by the Dubai Economic Department in Arabic and in several foreign languages, to inform tourists about their rights and ensure best practices that support the sustainable development of business activity in Dubai, and preserve the rights of consumers through a balanced and fair relationship between the merchant and the consumer.

Al-Zaabi revealed that the Saudis topped the number of complainants, followed by Indian tourists in second place, reflecting their level of awareness of consumer rights and their quest to ensure safe shopping, pointing out that tourists from Kuwait were in third place, Egypt in fourth place, and Oman in fifth place .
