Together with ASN Investment Funds, ASN Bank is 118 percent climate neutral. This means that the total of all investments and investments avoids more emissions than causes, the bank announced on Tuesday.
In 2014, the bank, which is part of the Volksbank, was the first bank in the world to formulate a climate target. The goal then was to invest net climate neutral in 2030.
The bank has since tightened this goal, with a positive effect on the climate in 2030 as the new ambition. That means that by that time the bank's investments will have to absorb more CO2 than emits it.
"We want to finance projects that remove CO2 from the atmosphere, such as forest planting and nature restoration," said Arie Koorneef, Chairman of the Board.
