The second strike day called by the CGT union for this August 14 has caused the cancellation of some 325 trains , between AVE and Long Distance, Medium Distance and Merchandise, according to the resolution of minimum services set by the Ministry of Development .

The strikes coincide with the start of the August bridge on the 15th, a national holiday in Spain and one of the days in which greater mobility is expected in the summer vacations of the Spaniards.

This is the second of the four days of partial unemployment to which CGT calls Renfe workers, after the one carried out on July 31, and will be a four-hour stop , between 12.00 and 16.00 and between 20.00 and 24.00 hours. The next two days of work stoppages are scheduled for August 31 and September 1.

Before the four days of stoppages scheduled by CGT, a minority union in the Renfe company committee, the Ministry of Development issued minimum services to guarantee 1,876 of the 3,028 High Speed and Long Distance, Medium Distance and Merchandise trains affected by the strike, canceling a total of 1,152 trains .

List of minimum services for the four days of work stoppages

Of the 1,059 High Speed and Long Distance trains affected by the stoppages, a total of 829 will circulate during the four days, establishing minimum services of 78% . 230 trains have been canceled.

In the case of the Media Distancia , Fomento has set minimum services of 65%, guaranteeing a total of 899 trains for these four days of the 1,376 trains affected by the stoppages. 477 trains have been canceled.

Finally, the total cancellations for these stoppages in the Merchandise service reach a total of 445 trains, since of the 593 trains affected, the circulation of 148, a minimum service of 25%, has been guaranteed.

In the case of the Cercanías service that Renfe provides in a dozen cities, including Madrid and Barcelona , the minimum services cover half of the service, 50%, a percentage that rises to 75% in the case of coinciding with strips of 'rush hour'.

PROMOTION ALEGATES A "SUPERIOR AND UNNECESSARY DAMAGE"

In its resolution, the Ministry of Development attributes the percentages of essential services to the fact that the stoppages are called on a day of "exceptional movement of travelers." "The mobility of working days coincides with the departure and return holiday operation, and with the start of the bridge on August 15, thus affecting all types of trains," argues Fomento.

"If minimum services were not determined, the exercise of the right to strike would cause superior and unnecessary damage to citizens," concludes the Ministry, which warns of the collapse of the access roads to large capitals in case of restricting the Cercanías service or the damage that would be caused to the "exceptional" number of travelers who have booked "well in advance" tickets for these dates.

CGT CONSIDERS "MINIMUM" MINIMUM SERVICES

In spite of this, CGT considered, in the face of the stoppages of July 31, that the minimum services decreed were "excessive" and that they generated a "huge imbalance between the fundamental right to strike and the right to mobility".

With its strike call, what happens to the CC.OO. carried out in the operator on July 15, the union demands an increase in the Renfe workforce.

In addition, it denounces the "impossibility" of fulfilling the "spirit" of reducing the weekly workday to 37.5 hours before the company's decision to apply it daily, with a decrease of 17 minutes of working time, instead of Cumulative form, adding days off.
