“An important issue in the framework of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project is Ukraine’s interests, gas transit through its territory,” he said at a press conference with Merkel. His words are quoted by TASS.

As the Lithuanian leader noted, Merkel said that these interests should be taken into account.

He added that he had expressed to the German chancellor the “rather skeptical opinion” of Lithuania about the gas pipeline.

“First of all, this (skeptical. - RT) opinion is due to the fact that Nord Stream-2 is a certain danger, a blow to the diversification of energy supplies to the EU,” Nauseda said.

Earlier, OMV announced that the first Nord Stream 2 gas would arrive by midnight on December 31, 2019.

As noted in Gazprom, the construction of the pipeline is 71% complete.

Expert Alexander Perov, in an interview with FBA Economics Today, assessed the situation around Nord Stream 2.
